As Vice President, Margarite concentrates on public affairs and legislative issue campaigns. Margarite has managed issue campaigns for a variety of non-profit, government and corporate clients including the Chicago Bar Foundation, Carfax, CN Railroad, Illinois Beverage Association, Chicago Department of Aviation and U.S. Cellular.
Working with the Chicago and Illinois Bar Foundations, Margarite managed a statewide media and legislative outreach campaign that helped increase state funding of civil legal aid six-fold, despite one of the worst budget crises in Illinois history. For the Department of Aviation, she mobilized a coalition of suburban business and homeowners, elected officials, unions and major business and trade organizations to help pass the pivotal O’Hare Modernization Program legislation.
Work with the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), MedImmune and GlaxoSmithKline give Margarite a unique perspective on the health care industry. Specifically, Margarite managed the public launch and subsequent rollout of Rx for Illinois, a major health initiative linking uninsured and underinsured Illinoisans with programs providing free or discounted medicines. She is currently working with MedImmune to develop the Illinois Premature Infant Health Network – a coalition of organizations including the Academy of Pediatrics, March of Dimes and Health and Disability Advocates – to drive policy change and increase public awareness of premature infant health issues.
Prior to joining CG&A, Margarite honed her skills in communicating public policy issues at the Metropolitan Planning Council.
Margarite graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and political science and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public policy. As part of her graduate studies, she has participated in a European Union/NATO seminar in Brussels and a policy analysis class with international students in Dublin.
She has served on the board of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Greater Chicago and the Chicago Intercollegiate Council, an organization that raises scholarship funds for Polish American students.
