She later ran a loaned executive program that leveraged expertise and millions of dollars in City services from the private sector and worked on special initiatives and legislative support campaigns, particularly on behalf of the City's two major airports.

Carolyn was Mayor Daley's campaign manager in his successful 1995 re-election bid, overseeing message, research, staff and a $3 million budget.

Before entering government, Carolyn was a familiar voice on WBEZ-FM, Chicago's public radio station. She worked there for 10 years as an award-winning political reporter, news director, and host of the weekday news program. Carolyn also worked at WLS-AM and WGN-TV and was a frequent contributor to National Public Radio.
